Frequently Asked Questions
Is the SSF Cold Weather just for spinning reels?
How do I spool the line onto my spinning reel?
The line must come off the top of our spool as you are looking at the label and onto your reel. This is proper way to spool mono fishing line onto a spinning reel. It helps to have a second person holding the spool. Do not lay the spool of any mono fishing line on the floor and just reel it on, that will create massive line twist.
What LB Test fluorocarbon leader can I use with SSF?
Typically up to 8LB test Blood Run Fluorocarbon leader can be used, or any fluorocarbon leader of .008" diameter or less. Any thicker diameter and you will excessively stretch the mainline when trying to break snags free and you will compromise the integrity of the mainline over time causing eventual failure.
Can you put split shot directly on SSF?
Yes you can. Though it is not coated with fluorocarbon like our other float mainlines which enhances abrasion resistance, it is perfectly fine to use Blood Run soft split shot only as it will not damage the line. If you use lesser grade off-brand split shot which contains more tin than lead, you could possibly fray SSF over time.
