Frequently Asked Questions
How do I choose the right fishing float for my needs?
Selecting the ideal fishing float depends on factors like your target species, location, depth, and speed of current. Our Float Comparison Chart and expert guides can assist you in finding the perfect match for your angling style. You can always give us a call or shoot us an email and we will give you our best recommendations.
I'm still not sure which float is best, can you make some general recommendations?
Generally speaking, the deeper you need to fish, the more weight you will need to get down, and the larger float you will need to support that weight.
What do the numbers in gram ratings stamped on the side of your floats represent?
The number stamped on the floats represent how much weight in grams the float can support and still perform optimally. You do not want to overweight or underweight your float.
I understand a slip float works with a bobber stop attached to my line, but how does a fixed float work?
Fixed floats are attached to your mainline by cutting small sections of tubing and threading your line through the pieces prior to tying your swivel onto your mainline. The top stem of the fixed float is inserted into the orange piece of tubing on your line, the bottom stem is inserted into the clear piece of tubing on your line. You can then both adjust your depth by sliding the float up and down your mainline, and you can switch float styles and sizes without cutting your mainline. Your mainline runs on the outside of your float.
