Below are the dive charts we have created for our fishing wire products using a Smart Troll depth measurement device. All data was collected in waters without any currents, trolling at consistent speeds using a spoon. Actual dive curves may vary significantly with turning, currents, diving baits, flashers and other factors.

Since you guys troll 2.7 MPH or higher on Lake Michigan, why not publish the depth rates at THAT speed? Even 3.0 MPH would be more useful to Salmon fishermen, if you were to pick only one speed.

Great question! Because 99% of guys troll at 2.5 or less, they don’t think it’s possible to catch fish fast and don’t understand the concept of covering water faster to find active fish. They have their eyes glued to some perceived magical down speed (and temp), something they read on Facebook or heard at seminar once and they literally CRAWL down the lake, sitting in dead water for miles in most cases changing lures as much as possible with expectations of changing the minds of negative fish they are marking on their screens.
Are you measuring speed at MPH if not how do you convert GPS to MPH
